WHERE TO STAY
To ensure you have the best stay possible, we are recommending a few hotels. Casa Rosa Boutique Hotel, Hotel Reggia Catarina, Hotel Solar do Império, and Pousada Pataca de Prata are located in the Historic Center of Petrópolis and are all within walking distance of each other and the main historic landmarks of the City. For those wanting to stay outside of the city center, we recommend Pousada do Alcobaça, which is just a 5-minute drive to the wedding venue.
As these are all small hotels, we urge you to book as soon as possible.
We will also be organizing shuttles to and from the wedding events from these locations. More details regarding transportation still to come!
A Cidade Imperial
Located just 43 miles from Rio de Janeiro in the Fluminense Mountain Region and founded in 1845, the historic town of Petrópolis is widely considered one of the first
planned cities in Brazil. Due to its milder climate and proximity to the then capital, the city served as the primary summer residence of the Brazilian emperors and aristocrats throughout the 19th century and is named after the last emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II. Nestled among the green hills of the Serra dos Órgãos National Park in the valley of the Quitandinha and Piabanha rivers, Petrópolis is today a popular destination for history lovers and outdoor enthusiasts!

WALKING DISTANCE FROM HISTORIC DOWNTOWN:
IN THE REGION, ACCESSIBLE BY CAR:
We know traveling has been complicated the last two years. For those who are able to make the journey we want to make it as easy as possible for you. The following travel information will be continually updated as restrictions change.
As of April 2022 travelers entering Brazil must:
If vaccinated: Present proof of vaccination, with immunizations approved by the country where the traveler has been vaccinated.
If unvaccinated: Test negative for COVID-19 one day before boarding. Both Antigen and RT-PCR tests, are accepted.
As of June 2022, the U.S. no longer requires a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country.
Visas and Other Requirements:
Visas are not required for entry to Brazil for Americans, Canadians, Australians, Colombians, and most EU Nationals. For a full list of countries click here.
Anyone traveling from Brazil to Colombia must show proof of the yellow fever vaccine.
Air: The closest airports to Petrópolis are Rio - Galeão Airport (GIG), just 38 miles away, and Rio - Santos Dumont Airport (SDU), 42 miles away.
Ground Transportation From Airport: While it is possible to hail a regular taxi or Uber to Petrópolis from Rio for around R$250, we contacted a trustworthy airport taxi service for those who wish to pre-arrange transportation from either airport. They have cars that fit 3-4 people for R$400 (roughly $70) and larger vans for R$600. The driver will greet you at arrivals holding a plaque with your name.
For reservations, please reach out to our wedding coordinator, Flavia Sewaybricker via WhatsApp (+55 22 99745-8041), and mention that you are with Lu and Diego's wedding.
Getting Around Petrópolis: Uber and taxis are readily accessible in the center of Petrópolis and all of the city's main historic sites are within waling distance of the recommended hotels there. For those staying outside the city center Uber's are far less reliable. We will be circulating a shuttle schedule for the wedding events in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that!
Know Before You Go
Your presence is the greatest gift!
We know it is a long journey for many of those planning to attend our wedding. Having you with us for this special moment is more than we could ever ask! We therefore kindly request that you refrain from sending us any gifts.
For those most stubborn members of our family and for anyone who will not make it and would like to send a gift, we have prepared a small registry below. We also welcome any and all donations to those families of Petrópolis that have been most impacted by the devastating February 15th floods.
